Spring Block Party - April 18th

Join us in the Arts District next Sunday for a fun-filled afternoon with culinary demonstrations from each of our five restaurants. We're going to block off the plaza (pedestrian only...we love that) and each restaurant will set up cooking stations on their patio and give demos ranging from how to prepare grilled eel to BBQ to wine + cheese pairings to making your own pasta. Plus a few mixologists will teach us how to whip up our favorite cocktails.
We also decided to spice up the plaza and invite a few local farmers and artists to come out and sell their goods including cheese, bread, spices, flowers & more. Live bands will be playing throughout the afternoon and Dance for The Planet will bring out dancers around 4 pm (think hip hop + Bollywood).
Come and just relax on our patios. Kick back and enjoy the sun, the sound of our dynamic fountains, great downtown views & good company.

Modern Luxury Features One Arts Plaza Condo

In this month's issue, one of our very own residents', Lucilo Pena and Lee Cobb's penthouse got a glamorous six-page feature. Very exciting stuff! Lucilo is President of Development for Billingsley Company and therefore was very involved in this project. So much so in fact that he and his partner Lee decided to relocate from their home in Uptown to the 24th floor with a 3,400-square foot two-bedroom penthouse. Designed in tandem with the building's architect, Lionel Morrison, the result is a classically modern, spacious home with window walls that take in magnificent city views. Grammy Award-Winning Composer at One Arts Plaza

Yesterday, several people gathered in the commercial lobby of One Arts Plaza for a special appearance by Marvin Hamlisch, award-winning musical composer. In town to promote his newly appointed position as guest conductor for the Dallas Symphony Orchestra's Pop Series launching in August, Marvin was a guest on WRR 101.1FM that morning during their monthly live broadcast from One Arts Plaza. Hamlisch has won three Oscars, four Grammys, four Emmys, a Tony and three Golden Globes, plus the Pulitzer Prize for "A Chorus Line", "The Way We Were" and others. A very special day for our tenants.

Floating Square

Check out this amazing photo taken by Guy Reynolds of Dallas. It actually won the Art & Seek's "Flickr Photo of the Week" contest last week. Taken a few years ago before the Winspear and Wyly were built, Reynolds says "The distinctive square of light on One Arts is like a signature piece on the skyline, and I wanted to present it in a way people don't oridinarily see it." He certainly accomplished his goal. While shooting, he was working on an article for the Dallas Morning News about the new "bling" popping up on our skyline. Lionel Morrison, the archiect for One Arts Plaza explains his reasons for choosing the square: "It's the basic geometric shape that we use in the design of the entire building. It's one of the those elements that really centers the building..in a very classic way and creates this iconic element..which made it a natural for an element to be illuminated at night. The square is a powerful, iconic shape."
